2012’s Perennial of the Year is Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’. ‘Jack Frost’ has large intricate silver leaves with deep green veins running through it. Its fuzzy textured leaves make it deer and rabbit resistant and a great alternative to the traditional hosta. It is a low maintenance plant which produces vivid blue flowers in early to mid spring. Brunnera prefers shade but part sun will also work if the soil is kept moist. It is popular in borders of perennial gardens and landscapes or even in mixed containers.
